Farewell

Hi, I'm Yusarina, and it's time to say goodbye.

I'm writing this as my final article under the name Yusarina. This is about Neoneko, CATS, and me.

Over the last two years, I've maintained the CATS Blender Plugin. During that time, I've dealt with ongoing abuse, entitlement, and a steady decline in my health. What started as a passion project slowly became something that was damaging me mentally and physically.

Things have now reached a point where I'm simply too ill to continue. Between my health issues and the constant negativity from parts of the community, I've had to make a hard decision: I'm stepping away from the VR social scene entirely, and I'm ending my involvement with CATS and Neoneko.

I want to be very clear about something I'm only human. My health matters more than any plugin. A small number of people have shown real kindness and support, and I'm deeply grateful to them. But for the most part, maintaining CATS came with overwhelming pressure, harassment, and unrealistic expectations.

I've received abuse, death threats, and even real-life harassment over a free, open-source Blender plugin. That should never be normal.

The VR social space has become toxic for me. It's no longer something I want to be part of, and that makes it impossible to keep working on projects tied to it.

Because of this, I'm officially ending my association with CATS and Neoneko.

Effective immediately, Neoneko will be shut down.

The website will be taken offline in due course. The Discord server will be placed into archive mode, where most channels will become read-only. The help channels will remain open for anyone who still wishes to provide support.

However, once moderation is no longer available, the server will be fully closed to prevent it turning into the wild west.

Sopless will oversee this process. If at any point she feels unable or unwilling to continue managing the server, unless someone else steps forward to take over, the server will be placed into complete archive mode.

If anyone wishes to continue CATS, they are free to fork the project, it's MIT licensed, and that's one of the strengths of open source.

But for me, this is where it ends, the name Yusarina will slowly fade away into the hellscape we call the internet.

I need to focus on my health, my real life, and the people who genuinely care about me.
